Data from the China Tea Marketing Association (CTMA) and US Census Bureau reveal an overall adjustment in volumes exported and overall declines in US imports of tea from across the globe.

CHINA EXPORTS

Chinese exports of tea increased over March volumes and over April 2019 numbers. Compared to the previous year, this April saw an 18.8% gain in volume and a 37% gain in dollar value. This reflects a general re-balancing of exports for the quarter. Q1 of 2019 saw 110,500 metric tons exported compared to a total 108,400 in Q1 2020.
