July Tea Report: 2021 China Exports & US Imports

Data from the China Tea Marketing Association and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for July 2021.

CHINA EXPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Overall export volume remained steady year on year
• Average prices are up about 5% over the previous July to $7.42/kg
• Exports of black tea volume increased 11.5% over July 2020
• Exports of green tea volume dipped 3.6% over same time last year

US IMPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Average price for July global imports was $4.26/kg
• Average price for July China imports was $4.15/kg
• 37.1% of all green tea import (volume) was from China, but only 13.3% of value
• 54.1% of all organic tea import (volume) was from China, but only 28.7% of value
