November Tea Report: 2022 China Exports & US Imports

Data from the China Tea Marketing Association and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for November 2022.

CHINA EXPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Nov total export volume DECREASED 16.9% year on year
• GREEN tea accounted for 82% of total export volume
• Average prices DECREASED 6.3% over the previous November to $5.39/kg
• Exports of GREEN tea volume DECREASED 22.2% over November 2021
• Exports of BLACK tea volume INCREASED 42.3% over the same time last year

US IMPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Average price for GLOBAL imports was $4.42/kg, UP 5.5% over the previous November
• Average price for CHINA imports was $4.38/kg, UP 11.5% over November 2021
• 46.5% of all GREEN tea import (volume) was from China, but only 24.6% of VALUE
• 40.1% of the month's US ORGANIC tea import volume was from China
