It has been Tee Time at Angry Chair Brewing for nearly a year and a half- a testament to the continued popularity of Arnold Palmer-inspired beers.
The elements of this beer include.
Berliner Weisse/Sour. A light colored sour makes an excellent choice, as the tartness ties well with lemon flavor.
Lemon. In this case, lemon zest was used. Zest works well because it delivers the aromatics of the lemon without the citric acid of the fruit. Another great option would have been lemon myrtle. Lemon myrtle is a naturally occurring herb that has more lemon aroma compounds than lemons. It smells like lemon fruit loops, and it is intense. A little can go a long way.
Black Tea. Since the other ingredients here provide crisp, clean flavors and aromas a bright, slightly sweet, and gently floral black tea is called for. Chinese black teas strike the balance here.
With many tea-infused beers, the tea flavor tends to make its appearance in the back or the aftertaste. Angry Chair's Tee Time does an excellent job of creating a tea-flavored beer where tea takes more of a center stage. Tea and lemon are steadily present in the front, middle, and back of the palate.
